Celebrating Milestones & Confronting a Growing Need
On December 1st of this year, nourish.NJ celebrated two milestones: our 40th anniversary and our first full year in our new building in Victory Gardens - the most underserved community in Morris County. We take pride in these accomplishments and feel tremendous gratitude for all who have helped us reach them. Yet, we know our work is far from finished.
Today, 1 million people in New Jersey are facing food insecurity and 1 in 3 families in Morris County struggle to afford the basics. We see 1,000 people coming through our doors each day for help. 80% have at least one school-aged child, so we know that children are bearing the brunt of the current crisis. We are on track to distribute 300,000 meals in 2024 - double the amount we distributed last year. Rising food prices means we are now spending three times more on food.
This is a dire story, and the road ahead will be challenging, but in 40 years, that has never stopped us. We’re committed to ensuring that every person, and especially every child, in Morris County has the nourishment and dignity they deserve.
This season of giving, we ask you to join us in ensuring that no one goes hungry. The need is great, please give as generously as you can.
With deep gratitude and appreciation, we wish you health, happiness and joy this holiday season.
